TEACHERS UNEMPLOYED.
' VERY SERIOUS MATTER, DISCUSSION AT CONFERENCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. -That the institute expresses grave concern at tho continued existence of un employment among teachers, particularly of ex-training college students," was an Auckland remit that came before the annual conference of tho New Zealand Educational Institute to-day, Mr. D. M. Rae (Auckland) said unemployment among young teachers was a very serious matter, as they were inclined to be disillusioned when, at tho beginning of their life's work, they found themselves without employment. Unemployment had increased very considerably in reeenfc years and the position was becoming hopeless as far as the young people were concerned. Them should be an improved means of forecasting the wastage in the teaching profession. Mr. A. J. Woods (Otago) said that unemployment had a most disastrous effect on teachers who had just completed their training. A man out of work felt that ho was under a cloud and that was likely to have a bad effect on the mail's future. ThcJ discussion was adjourned.
