NOTES ON THE RACING.

CAMISADER'S CUP WIN. REWARD OFr CONSISTENCY. FAVOURITE FAILS TO STAY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.'] INVERCARGILL, wctlncsday. Tho weather was fine but overcast when the races began, with the track in pel feet order for this time of the year, but rain commenced to fall during tl.o fourth event and continued throughout, making the track somewhat holding. \ The locally-owned nnd trained mare Red Sea was most in demand in (he Southland Cup. carrying about £llO more than Bliick' Duke, but Circulation and Wingatni also had support. lied Racer led over the fi'f't two furlongs, , and then Camisader took charge from Red Racer, Evening and ingatui, 'with Black Duke last. Red Racer, Camisader. Evening and Red Sea reached the straight almost on terms. Red .Sea dropped hack, and holding his own in the run home Camisader beat Red Racer b> three-quarters of a length, with Evening u neck away third. Black Duke, who put in a fino run in tho straight, was fourth, and then enmo Circulation nnd "Wingatui. Camisader deserved to succeed, as ho has been racing consistently of late.

MEADOW LARK UNPLACED. JOCKEY STRUCK BY STONE. Meadow Lark, a good favourite in the Flying Handicap, was never sighted on the journey. It was officially announced that his jockey, B. Brodie, was struck in the eye by a stone picked up by ono of the leaders shortly after tho start, with the result that ho could not see properly to control his mount. It was obviouß that the jockey's eyo was injured when ho returned to tho weighing, enclosure. Lucky Light and Coomassie 'gave slight trouble at the post, and tho former was slow away. Almost at once Rin .1 in Tin look, charge, to lead Caterpillar into the straight, with Full Fling, Rod Boa and Apache handy. In the run home Rin Tin Tin easily held his own to win by a length and-half from Full Fling, with Lucky Light, finishing wide out very fast, a bare length away. Red Boa was fourth, and then came Caterpillar.

NEDDA RETURNS TO FORM. BRILLTANT CAREER LAST YEAR. Tho three-year-old filly Nedda (.Paper Money—Michaela) scored her first victory in three starts this season in the Tradesman's Handicap. Nedda won three two-year-old racos in New Zealand last season and was then taken to Australia. At Flemington she won tho Sires' Produce Slakes of £'3295, and at Hand wick phe wqs third in the A.J.C., Sires' Produce Stakes (won by Honour), and dead-heated for second in the Champagne Stakes. Sho ran unplaced in her two starts at Oainaru in March, and was not greatly fancied for to-day's race, Paris and Moun,t Boa being best backed. Nedda at once showed out, but Battle Flag took up tho role of pacemaker before a furlong had been completed, while a bump sent Paris back. Rounding for homo Battle Flag retired, and Nedda, Paris and Cupid's Da rt fought out the issue. A slashing finish resulted in Nedda beating Paris by half a length, with Cupid s Dart a bare length away. Mount Boa lost ground at tho start, but ran up behind the placed horses at tho finish.
