LIFE-SAVING.
NEW OFFICERS APPOINTED. A new chairman and secretary and treasurer were appointed at a meeting of the Auckland Gentre of the Koyal Life-savins Society on Tuesday evening. The position of chairman has been filled by Mr. William Taylor, former deputy-president of the Maranui Life-savins? Club. Wellington, and that of secretary and treasurer by Mr. F. Langley of the North Shore Swimming C'lub. These appointments are subject to i 1 * nfinnntion at a general meeting of members of the Auckland Society. The meeting was convened by Mr. F\ Coleman, and Mr. R. Moore occupied the chair. The resignation of the former chairman. Dr. T. Harold Pettit. and the secretary, Mr Prust Stewart, followed a motion rescindiutuappiovn.l of their action in making arrangements for an art union to bo carried out under the auspices of the centre. After considerable discussion a motion was carried that the minutes of the previous meeting, which were not available, be taken as read. Several members maintained that the motion was out of order. Immediately nfterwnrds, Mr. W. Eraser, representing the Boy Scouts' Association, said that he would take no further part, and withdrew. He was followed by Mr. R. E. Gov.ley, of tlio PouBouby Swimming Club.
