Play in tho cricket match Australia v. Yorkshire at Sheffield was resumed to-day at 2.15 p.m. in cold, dull weather beforo a small attendance. The ends of the pitch had been covered, but practically the whole wicket was damp, tho roller bringing tho moisture to tho surface. When stumps were drawn on Saturday Yorkshire had made 155 runs in their first innings and Australia 60 for ore wicket, Bradman (24) and Woodfull (37) being tho not out men. These batsmen commenced confidently to-day in spite of tho bad wicket and half an hour's play produced 50 runs. Bradman's £0 camo one over after WoodfulPs, although Woodfull had had 45 minutes' start.
Rhodes was given the ball when the score was 115, but Bradman refused to let tho veteran Yorksbireman's reputation overawe him. He swung on to ono from Rhodes for a terrific four. When the partnership had yielded 107 Bradman gavo Macaulay a simple return. His typically aggressive innings had lasted 100 minutes, and he had scored eight boundaries.
Leyland got Ivippax leg before in bis first over. Meanwhile Woodfull was plugging on steadily. He gavo a difficult chance behind tho wicket when ho had made 78.
McCabe was well caught in the outfield. Woodfull's century appeared on the board after 200 minutes and although Bradman overshadowed him it was an excellent performance on the damaged wicket. Richardson batted very cautiously. Woodfull was caught at "silly mid-on." lie had hit 12 fours. A'Beckett hit Rhodes for six and then was stumped in attempting to repeat the stroke. Richardson in trying also to hit one from Rhodes gave tho wicketkeeper a catch. Grimmett batted soundly. Walker failed to last long and Horlribrook's wicket fell in the last over of the day. The innings closed for 320. Tho Australians' capacity for driving home a match-winning possibility will bo tested to-morrow when an interesting finish iu axpected. Play will be restricted to 5!, hours to allow tho visitors to catch a train to Liverpool. Though the wicket proved better than was expected to-day the ball sometimes slipped through unexpectedly and the pitch was not by any means easy. This in addition to tho slow outfield makes the Australians' performance in leaving Yorkshire 165 behind creditable. Woodfull and Bradman again demonstrated their ability to rise to the occasion in danger periods. Bradman's team mates consider his innings was tho most brilliant ho has played in England. Details of the scores are:—• YORKSHIRE.

RESUMPTION PREVENTED
(Rooeived May 14, 12.85 a.m.) - LONDON, May 13,
The cricket match Australia v. Yorkshire was abandoned to-day owing to continued rain at Sheffield.
The Australian cricketers to-day arc to commence the fifth match of' their tour against Lancashire at Liverpool. Lancashire last year was second to Nottinghamshire in the county championship. The team played 28 matches, won 12, lost three, won six on the first innings, and lost six, one match being without result. The points scored were 148, against 158 by Nottinghamshire. Lancashire won the championship in 1928. The team lacked enterprise last year, and had no really first-class change bowlers, a lack which experiments with young players did not fill. E. Tyldesley, Iddon, and Watson made tho most runs, and R. Tyldesiey, McDonald, and Hop wood headed tho bowling. The captain was -Mr, P. T. Eckersley.
