The business depression in Japan is becoming alarmingly worse. In April 945 factories at Tokio were closed, causing 20,000 workmen to join the huge army of unemployed.

No alleviation of the situation is in sight. Fearing trouble, the police have prohibited a mass meeting called by proletarians for to-morrow.
