BUS OWNERS' COMPLAINT.
THE NEW RESTRICTION.;
OPERATORS TO MEET BOARD-
A letter protesting against the Transport Board's decision to prohibit private bus companies from picking up or setting down passengers within a-quarter of a mile of any tram terminus was received by the board yesterday from tho Motor Omnibus Proprietors' Association. The communication stated that legal advice was to the effect that tht prohibition was ultra vires, but suggested the best way would be to have a friendly trial in order that the matter might be properly decided. The secretary to the board, Mr. W. St. J. Clarke, reported that he had conferred with the 'board's solicitor, who suggested that before enforcing the new condition every opportunity should be given to the licensees to make any representation they might wish. On the motion of tho acting-chairman, Mr. G. Baildon, it was agreed to invite the companies to state their views nt the next meeting of the board in committee. Mr. E. H. Potter: I think that is in the fight direction. Wo should come to some arrangement with the operators.
