GATHERING AT OTOROHAfcIGA. RAGWORT AND QUARANTINE* [BZ TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OTOROHANGA, Saturday. The annual meeting of the Otorohanga branch of the Farmers' Union was held yesterday,® Mr. W. V, fimms presiding. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £7 153 sd. The following officers were elected Chairman, Mr. Sirnms; vicechairman, Sir. K. F. Maynard; secretary, Mr. C. Browne; committee, the above and Messrs. A. A. Ellis, S. A. Cook, H. A. Lurrnan and F. Anso; delegates to ,Whanga,rei conference, Messrs. Siinms and Browne; delegates to sub-provincial centre, Messrs. -Simms, Browne and LurDi ah. Included in the remits for consideration at. Whangarei were:—Government control of tho new ragwort spray; party-line subscribers ta be given the right to accept or refusie additional subscribers; farmers to be assisted financially to check the ragwort menace and that tho willow menace in streams be considered. The meeting felt that no risks should .beftaken in tho matter of quarantine of stock brought from England and supported the stand taken by tho Minister in the matter. TE AWAMTJTU BRANCH, ' OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED, [by TELEGRArn. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAATUTU. Sunday. The annual meeting of the To Awamutu branch of the Farmers' Union was held at tho week-end, Mr. A. Hanna presiding over a largo attendance. Tho reports showed that'the finances had been considerably improved and that good work had been accomplished during tho year. Tho election of officers resulted:—
President, Mr. A. Karma (To Mawhai); Messrs. A. Wyllio (Kihikihi) and CI. T. Crawley (Puahue); secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. J. Hodgson; assistant secretary, Mr. Crawley; executive, Messrs. J. Millen (Parawera), G. Maclean (Marigapiko), F. J. B. Eyhurn (Paterangi), ,J. Duncan (Wharaptihunga), S. 11. West (Poluiru), O. S. Clarke (To Awarnutu), W. Taylor (Pua"ue)> d- G. Wynyard (Kihikihi), W. Wilson and J. O. Butterworth (To Bore), Old (Ngahape), W. F. Woodward (Ptikeatua), W. Somervillo (Ohaupo) arid Hal) (Pirongia) ; delegates to provincial conference, Messrs. W.-Wil son and W. J. ■Hodgson; delegates to Waikato sub-pro-*Wcial, Messrs. Crawley and Taylor; delegate to To Awamutn Cliaml >er of Commerce, Mr. W. I l '. Woodward; auditor, r - G. 0. Jourdain. After the formal business a social rcEnmn was held, at which many members of the women's division were present.
