An increase of 17.44 per cent, in Auckland's butter-fat production during the ♦en months of tho season which ended on April 30, removes the sting from an expected dee lino of 10.45 per cent, in the average value of butter-fat. Tho season's output to April 30, calculated on tho basis of an' anticipated average payout .of Is 3d per lb. butler fat, will give the province a ret in n of ,117.619,000. Last season the, average of tho payout was i s 4- I d, and at this figure the. production ov er the same period returned £7,245.000. This feav'Mi, therefore, in spito of the lower range of values, Auckland's dairy farmers shoirld bo £374,000 to tho good. In this respect, the province is in a mora favourable position than the Dominion as a whole, which has a production increase of 11.35 per cent, to meet the decline of 10.45 per cent, in averago of the payouts.

Tho latest statistics of production in tho province show that the usual seasonal decline set in during April. Tho yield was 9,927.0001b. of butter-fat, a drop of over 2,000,0001b. on that of March. Compared with the previous April, however, last month's output was nearly 3,000,0001b. or 41.74 per cent, greater. Increases were shown in production both for butter and cheese, the butter figures for last month being 8,715,0001b., compared with 6,173,0001b., and the cheese figures 1,212,00016. against 824,0001b.
