GOLDEN WEDDING.
Mr. and Mrs. P. F. O'Brien celebrated their golden wedding yesterday. Mr. O'Brien, who is eighty-nine years of ago, has lived in New Zealand for the past sixty-six years. He is a native of County Clare, and arrived by the sailing vessel Lightning after a voyage of thirteen weeks from Liverpool. After spending twelve months in Queensland, Mr. O'Brien left for Nelson, New Zealand, and then proceeded to Westport, where lie joined the Post and Telegraph Department. He remained in its service for thirty-six years, retiring twenty years
Mrs. O'Brien, who is sixty-eight years of age, is a native of County Cork. She arrived in Melbourne by the sailing vessel Royal Standard when two years old. After living in Melbourne for fourteen years, she sailed for Westport where she was married a few years later, at St. Caniee's Church., by the lato Rev. Father Walshe. Of their nine children, six are, living, viz., Mrs. R. Williams, Mrs. J. Ford, Mr. W. O'Brien, Mr. T. O'Brien, Mr. M. O'Brien, and Mr. E. O'Brien, of, Christchurch. With the exception of Mr. E. O'Brien, all tlje family were present at the reception. There are fifteen grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien are enjoying excellent health. The family reunion and wedding breakfast was held at "Bullerville," thq residence of Mrs. R. Williams. After the wedding cake was cut by Mrs. O'Brien toasts were proposed by Mr. E. Guinness, Mr. P. McGlone, Air. E. Craig, Mr. W. Clancy, Mr. V. Mulgan, and Mr. W. 11. Larsen, all of whom are old West Coast friends.
