SCHOOLGIRLS' TOUR.

VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND.

PARTY COMING FROM BRITAIN. [FROM OUR OWN correspondent.] LONDON, March 4. In 1928 a party of girls between the ages of 17 and 19, representing 16 of the leading public, schools, toured Canada under tho auspices of the Schoolgirls' Oversea Tour Committee and with (he approval of the Oversea. Settlement. Department.. Writing to the Times the officials of the committee now announce a further tour.

"The committee," they say, "believes that the interest which the tour aroused and. the benefit gained by the girls justify it in making a second venture for girls of similar ages and with the same qualifications. It lias now been decided to organise a tour to New Zealand, where, thanks to the generous co-operation of tho Victoria League, which has accepted responsibility for all the arrangements, an interesting visit, is assured. The party of 2ft will sail early in January, 1931, and will travel outwards via Suez and return via the Cape, reaching England about June.

"In the case of all young people, especially girls, it is obviously important that, care should lie taken to ensure right supervision on such a journey. Miss Edith Thompson, C.8.E., who acted as director of the Canadian tour, has been appointed to lie in charge of the party and associated with her will be a second-in-command with some nursing experience. The inclusive cost of the. tour will be not, more than £l5O, to be borne by tho parents of each girl. "Tho scheme has received (ho cordial support of the Headmistresses' Association, which has appointed two members to servo on the subcommittee. We feel sure that, tho proposal has only to be made known for many parents to take advantage of this opportunity and to give their daughters the chance of enlarging their understanding of tho British Empire."
