SURPRISE FOR IMPORTERS

Importers of American motor-cars received an unpleasant, surprise yesterday when they found that (he duties on imported cars had beeri increased overnight by 25 cents.

It is stated that the Customs Board took this action in order to prevent the threatened rushing over of thousands of American cars to avoid the new French Tariff Bill which will come into operation in a few weeks.
