Mothplane and Mountain Heath thon settled down iu frout, and led Tho Hawk and Don Quixoto for a milo, with Balloon, Spearmies and High Court all handy. There was no change until the homo turn was reached, where The Hawk and Don Quixoto closed on tho leaders, Mothplane and Mountain Heath. Thoro waa Bomo scrimmaging hero in which Don Quixoto suffered. Over tho last furlong High Court strode up on tho outside and he won comfortably by two lengths from Tho Hawk, who beat Spcarmisa by a length. Balloon was fourth and Mountain Heath and Don Quixoto followed at intervals. Tho first throo furlongs took 37is, and six furlongs 1m ISSs.

Tho Hawk had every chance. Spcarmis9 finished on well, Mountain Heath pulled too hard, and Don Quixote, although ho suffered in tho scrimmago at the turn, did not registor a convincing St. Leger trial. High Court is a four-year-old gelding by Grandcourt from tho Mystification mare Taleteller. Last season ho won four races, including llie Danuevirko Cup. At tho Povorty Bay meeting last February ho won the Taurajiga Stakes under 9.0. High Court waß bred by his owner, Mr T. Whito. TOXEUMA'S CLEAR-OUT WIN. TRIUMPH OVER TWO-YEAR-OLDS. Jenny Diver finished on to brat Chrysology by a nose for third, but tlicy were four longths behind Cylinder. Toxeuma made a complete job of the two-year-olds. He is to go to Ellcrslie for tho Easter Handicap, but with A. E. Elba booked for Riccarton no rider is as yet available. There ehould be no dearth of applicants. Cylinder, although beaten, was not absolutely disgraced, although it must bo confessed that his efTort was disappointing. Jenny Diver stayed on well after beginning slowly. Chrysology bad ■ not been pleasing his trainer and although he showed pace ho weakened badly at tho end. Te Aw ha was outclassed. To dato Toxeuma has contested 42 races, and his record stands as follows Eleven wins, fourteen time 3 socond. ten times third and seven times unplaced. Toxeuma. who is raced by his breeder. Mr. F. Ormond. hn3 so far won prize-money to tho amount of £'4215, TOURIST'S HIGH-WEIGHT. OUTSIDER .HUNS SECOND. Tn tho High-weight Handicap Auctioneer tvas a pronounced favourite, but Tourist led tho field home at a fair price, wlulo if Whakaari had won ho would have returned a very largo dividend, for only 11 tickets were invested on his chance. His second dividend was substantial. . Whukaari apd Cook led out from Rich Harvest, Kimbo and Tourist, with Auctioneer tailing off. Auctioneer moved tip a little racing down the back. Cook led into the straight from Whakaari, Kioh Harvest and Tourist. Tourist finished on well, to beat Whakaati by half a length, with Grattus and Rich Harvest necks away. Cook was fifth and Auctioneer next a long way b Tourist, ridden in behind, finished well and stayed out the fast-run mile and a-quar-ter in irreproachable Btyle. Whakaari, more patiently handled, might have won. Grattus and Rich Harvest both ran solid races.

Kinsel waß a length and a-half away third, with Queen's Choice fourth. Rory Mor and Chopiu, right up, wcro next. Bold Front finished particularly well, but Admiral Drake , was most unlucky in the running, and should have won. Kinsel tan well, and Queen's Choice will improve.
