USE OF SHOWGROUNDS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN' CORREPPONDKNT. ] HAMILTON, Thursday. i The refusal of (ho Waiknto Agricultural and Pastoral Association to grant the Dominion Polo Association the use of its showgrounds at Claudelands as a permanent playing-field for the Saville Cup and interprovineial tournaments was reviewed at a meeting of the Show Association to-day. "It would be in our interests to treat the application in n. more favourable light," said Mr. S. Pilkington. If the association were to refuse definitely the townspeople would be antagonised and their support lost. The delegates who had viewed the ground had classed it as an ideal ono for polo. There were other towns with suitable grounds which would receive the Polo Association with open arms. Mr, W. Newoll said the Waikato Trotting Club paid the association handsomely for the lease of the grounds nnd was entitled to first consideration. The use of the ground by the Polo Association would be a liability. It was decide I ], on the recommendation of Mr. J. M. MoXicol, that the Polo Association should bo Permeated to make a formal application for the use of the ground and to state what, rent it was prepared to pay. This would receive favourable consideration at" the rext meeting of the committee.
