MISS ALMA McGRUER.
FAREWELL CONCERT. Auckland music-lovers have seldom had the opportunity of hearing such a wealth of local talent as that at the farewell concert tendered to Miss Alma McGrucr in the Town Hall last evening. Songs, instrumental items, humorous monologues, and attractive dances were combined in an enjoyable programme. Miss Alma McGruer, in a selection of vocal numbers, revealed to the full her artistry of expression. Too much praise cannot be given to Miss McGruer's rendering of Rossini's "Una Voce." Equally appreciated was her work in duels with Miss Beryl Smith and with Mr. A. Biplev. At the conclusion of the programme Miss McGruer gave several request numbers, which made a fitting finale to the concert. Of the instrumental items a notable performance was a violin solo by Mr. Haydn Murray. Dances of a high standard were presented by Miss Cecil Hall's pupils, and a specialty dance by Mdlle. Valerie Valeska and Mr. L. Wilson.
