It need hardly be said that the proposed merger between the Auckland and Otahuhu Clubs .has formed, the subject of much discussion in circles identified with the trotting sport. An amalgamation between the two bodies named would be to the advantage of the sport in this district under a number of headings. It is quite true that the Otahuhu Club possesses a fine property in its own district, but, while that i 3 SO, it would require a sum of not less than £20,000 to place the necessary buildings on the property, and with only four days' racing each season that fact has to be taken seriously into consideration. With the four additional days the Auckland Trotting Club would be placed in a strong position, and it may be safely assumed that as a result the appointments at Alexandra 1 arlt would speedily be brought up to . date by the installation of the elector, totahsator. Altogether ?;here is apparently good reason to anticipate that the dcsirabilitj, of tho proposed merger will ba fully recognised by the members of the respective clubs involved when the Question come? before them.
