INCREASE IN PRODUCTION*

The Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company ■« last month received from suppliers : l* 450,1591b. of butter-fat, compared with' 347,8781b. in February, 1929. Last month' . £ 247 tons of butter was manufactured, against 187 tons in February, 1929. The " r amount paid to suppliers for butter-fafe' supplied last- month was £24,730, compared* with £24,493 for the corresponding month' f. of last year. • The company has this season np to Feb* ruary 28 manufactured 1723 tons of butter, ' which is an increase of 242 tons over the quantity made during the corresponding period of last year. MAORI DAIRY FARMERS. PROGRESS AT TE KAHA, J . . '% The development of the dairying industrv in the vicinity of Te Kaha and Raukokore is indicated by the output of the Te Kaha Dairy Company, which is a % purely Maori concern. It commenced operations in 1925, and the output has increased from 10 tons in 1925-26 to over 50 tons this season. ;^r; : The increase in output is due to larger •; and better herds, combined - with the -_r growth of a better class of pasture. Herdtesting has taught the farmers which are. the best cows iq. the herds, and with the use of pedigree Jersey bulls they been raising a better class of cow. . ;
