NORFOLK ISLAND SERVICE.
RETURN OF MAUI POMARIi. FINAL TRIP COMPLETED - The Government steamer service to Norfolk Island was brought to a close last evening with the return of the Maui Pomare from her last trip to the island. The vessel arrived in the stream at eight o'clock, and berthed at King's Wharf. Bad weather was responsible for delay in leaving Norfolk Island on the return voyage, but otherwise the trip was uneventful and fine weather was experienced. A full complement of passengers was carried, and a shipment of 1150 cases of bananas arrived in excellent condition. In future the Maui Pomare will be
limited to the service between . New Zealand ports and Apia, and unless private enterprise is forthcoming Norfolk Island will be without direct communication with the Dominion.
