ISLAND OPENED TO PUBLIC.

Motuihi Island is now out of quarantine. The young lady suffering from smallpox who was quarantined after the arrival of the Aorangi on February 23, was discharged yesterday morning. The' medical officer of health in Auckland, Dr. T. J. Hughes, said she had made an excellent recovery and there would be no necessity for her to keep in touch" with the Health Department. Jt is stated that there is now no danger of infection at Motuihi and the island to-' day will lose its identity as a temporary hospital and become once more one of the city's marine, parks. The City Council, which has control of the island as a park; has made arrangements to have it open again to picnickers, and the usual week-end excursions will- be run to-mor-row and on Sunday.
