FIRST PREMIER OF ULSTER.
LATE MR. MASSEY SUGGESTED
An interesting anecdote concerning the late Mr. Massey was related by Lord Carson at a recent gathering of the Ulster Association in London. Remarking that no Ulsterman. ever forgot Ulster, he said he remembered meeting on one occasion the la to Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Massey—a great Ulsterman and » great loss to New Zealand. • It was at the time-when at new~*Goverttment was being set up in Ulster. A deputation had -visited hira (Lord Carson) to ask him to go over and be the first-Prime Minister in Ulster. Ho felt it impossible to comply with that flattering request. Then Sir James Craig felt some hesitation and it wast suggested that they should apply to Mr. Massey. • • Meeting Mr. Massey later Lord Carson said he knew it would have b6en hopeless.
