FRANKLIN RACING CLUB.

MEETING AT PUKEKOHE.

GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED.

The annual race meeting promoted by the Franklin Racing Club won popularity from the outset, and, with the true sporting spirit always observed, the success achieved can bo termed well deserved. The annual race meeting at Pukekoho is fixed for today, and, with a capital list of acceptances for the whole of the eight events which form the programme, tho complete success of tho meotinc is well assured. Tho following is the list of acceptances received for tho various events: 11.45—PUNI HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP, Of £150; about 1 mile and 5 fur.

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. BY ARCHER. Few of the candidates for the Putii Highweight Handicap havo any recent form and the prospects are 'therefore difficult to estimate." Wedding March and The Lamb may feel tho lack of recent racing and they may be accounted for by Vrenday and Glena Bay, who have registered some creditable performances this season and are two of the best-seasoned horses in the race. Kairuri is a distinct- possibility if he can 6(ay on, and Mashoor is another with a chance, although ho might relish a shorter distance better. Kawini and Kamchameha will run the distance right and may shape respectably in spite of the fact that they havo lost some of their pace. - Backers will probably follow form and support Glena Bay, Wenday and Kawini. Runners will be numerous in the Bombay Handicap and luck in the draw for post positions and the early running will be important factors. Chromadyne, Sir Mond and Tambourine havo somo recent form to recommend them, while I'm Alone, Merry Lu, Fairy Belle, Hannibal and Ding Dong all have sufficient speed to bo worth consideration. There aro a number of other possibilities and altogether it is a difficult race. Somo who may bo fancied are I m Alone, Hannibal and Chromadyne, Some useful hacks figure in tho Waiuku Hock Handicap and there art. more than a, few recent winners among the candidates. At her best Big Bertha would have a chance, but thero is a doubt about her being thoroughly fit, as she was knocked about a cood deal on her* trip to G-isbome last month. On Top is an improver that has won twice lately, while Carl Idem, Tetrarchate and Currajong aro improving three-year-olds that have all shown decent form lately. The speedy Treasury }S also a winner this year, and then among the others aro several smart ones in Sea Song, Mauriaena and Parfait Amour. With so many candidates with decent credentials the event should be ono of tho best betting races of the day. The favourites may bo Oil Top, the Tetrarchate-Parfait • Amour bracket and Sea Song. With a decent field of 10 engaged in the Franklin Handicap prospects for an interesting race in the leading event are therefore bright. On recent form Royal Doulton must bo accorded an excellent chance in spite of her weight, but she will havo difficulty to concede 16lb. to Hydo Park, who has been working extremely well and is a fit horse. Hydo Park has disappointed on occasions, but, if this is ono of his good days, ho should have a golden opportunity here. Desert Glow is coming back to form and cannot be dismissed, as ho ran two creditable races at Te Aroha. However, ho might need another gallop or two before he is thoroughly attuned and at the difference of weight he will be troubled by Le Choucas and Mithra, especially Mitbra, who finished a close third at To Aroha. King's Guard does not appeal in this class, and on recent form little can be said in favour of Transformer, Mosaic, Sir Archie and King Emerald. The public will probably follow form and support Ilyde Park. Royal Doulton and Mithra. The field engaged in the Onewhero Hack Handicap is not strong. Brampton and Spring Abbey are recent winners that should take considerable beating in this class, and Havilalid's second at To Aroha must give him an excellent chance also. Always is a possibility, but ho may be accounted for by improvers like Motere and St. Ames, who have recently been on tho winning list. Snow Plane and Catalus do not appeal and the public may show a preference for " form" horses liko Motere, Spring Abbey and Brampton. Tho Tuakau Flying Handicap has drawn a field of 10. Eaglet will no doubt xace prominently with all her weight, and of those closest to the top she may meet with most opposition from Lucy Rose and Gold Money, although thero is just a doubt about Gold Money being thoroughly right, notwithstanding her fast sprint tho other morning. Thero arc several possibilities among tho light-weights and the best of these may bo Value, Gemlight, Cynthia N. and 'Abbess. Tho popular fancies may be Eaglet, Lucy Rose and Value. , Several of the candidates for the Buckland Hack Handicap have other engagements and there may therefore bo one or two defections. Tho class is not strong, but Aggressive. Sir Mond. Neil and Rose Willonyx are all improvers, and tho topweights, Page Boy and Big Bertha, aro useful hacks. Littlo Gift has also shown a little form and will be racing on her homo course here, so that she may also havo to bo considered. The popular selections niav include Aggressive, Rose Willonyx and Neil.

Tho Pukekoho Handicap has attracted a useful field and candidates with _ recent form to recommend them aro Vali, King Willonyx, Imperial Prince and Tanagra; Thero aro some among the others that can also gallop well and the best of these may bo Gemlight, who has been doing his work nicely. Tho main fancies may bo Vali, Gemiiglit and King Willonyr,
