The Napier Park meeting was held to-day Sn dull, but fine weather, the course being in excellent order after a light rain overnight. In the Omarunui Hurdles Red Bank was a ■ 'decided favourite, with Rakauponga well backed, and Jen at good odd 3. Essential. Heather Blend, Rakauponga and Diana's Lad led to the first fence, when King's Jest jumped badly at the stands. Rakauponga ar| d Jen were in charge, just ahead of Diana's Lad, Red Bank and Heather Blend. Red Bank went to tho front at tlie six-fur-longs post from Rakauponga, with King's Jest moving up. He jumped badly again at the same fence, and dropped back at the last fence. Red Bank and Jen were just in front of Diana's Lad, Rakauponga, Essential, with King's Jest showing up again wide ° u t. Red Bank faded Out in the run home, ®nd King's Jest, finishing solidly, just failed by a head to reach Jen. Diana's Lad was a length away third, with Red Bank fourth. R nd Rakauponga next. King's Jest's performance was ail excellent one for a first appearance, and he should have beaten Jen. Diana's Lad ran a good race, but Red Bank Br >d I'akaupousa should do better over the Gioiter distance to-morrow .In the Esk Hack Handicap Belle Star, Loyal Opera and Abbey Queen wore the "favourites in ati even bolting race. Pereki was left, ;inc ] I3<?ll e Star, Kahu Ariki and oy ne showed out first. Belle Slnr and Cloyne led round the top. and to the turn '° ra Abbey Queen, with Kahu Arilti and . ee n in line, linc ] 'J'ourist and Royal Opera Jandy. Keen assert ud herself over the last j rlong and boat Belle Star home by a , Cloyne was two lengths back third, *?th Royal Op:ra fourth.. Abbey Queen and n "u Ariki were nest. Keen stayed on 100 ?? for Belle Star, who had every chance. * f ,r° raa u '^ e "t the turn. Royal Opera '' do belter over a longer course. n ihe Sapling Stakes Jenny Diver and a «ksh,n V monopolised most attention od 8 totalisator, and they were always prowinner, however, turned up in ;'.r^ C4 .y a - £iviai{| R. Alexander Ills first win

at his first attempt since taking over Mr. T. H. Lowry's horses. War Worn and Outward Bound were slow away, and Hawkshaw, Jenny Diver and Rapallo .began best from Henry of Navarre, First Whip, Prince Orby and Cylindor. Hawkshaw, Jenny Diver and Rapallo led into the straight just ahead of Henry of Navarra and First Whip, with Cylinder, creeping up on the rails. Rapallo had Jenny Diver and Hawkshaw in trouble a furlong from home, and Cylinder kept up liis run. Rapallo beat Cylinder by a neck, with Henry of Navarre a length away third, just ahead of Jenny Diver and Hawkshaw. Several lengths back came Ruby's Step, First Whip and Normanby. Rapallo and Cylinder both impressed, and of these Cylinder will bo improved a good deal by the race. Henry of Navarre ran avsterling race, but both Jenny Diver and Hawkshaw were disappointing. In the Napior Cup, Great Charter, Toxeuma, Oratrix and Tho Hawk were the elect of backers in a good betting race. Raoing for tho klurn out of the straight My Own, Rory Mor, Blimp, Toxeuma, The Hawk, Oratrix and Great Charter were most prominent. My Own had drawn two lengths clear at the six furlongs post from Rory Mor, Blimp, Toxeuma, The Hawk, Oratrix, Shrewd and Great Charter. Blimp ran past My Own at tho half mile, and led round to the straight from My Own. Shrewd. High Court, Toxeuma. The Hawk, Rory Mor, Great Charter ond Merry Damon. The leaders all went wide and Merry Damon camo through hard ridden oil the rails. Ho finished full of courage under the whip to beat Blimp by a neck. Toxeuma was two lengths away third, with My Own fourth. Shrewd. High Court, Great Charter. Rory Mor, The Ha\vk, Oratrix and Star Stranger finished in that order. Merry Damon won in great style. Blimp and Toxeuma ran sterling races, particularly Toxeuma Star Stranger needed the race and Oratrix shaped poorly. Great Charter was unlucky in tho running. My Own and Shrewd both showed up very well. In the Autumn Handicap, Moa Bird, Hunting Doy and Head Serang were praotically equally backed. Hunting Day jumped out first from The Swell, To Awha and Head Serang. with Moa Bird slow away. Hunting Day was three lengths clear racing down the back, from The Swell, le Awha, Moa Bird, Merry Mint, and Head Serang. Hunting Day turned for homo cloar of Te Awha. The Swell, Merry Mint, Head Serang. Te Awha, under pressure, ran Hunting Day to a length, with Head Serang nearly a length away third. The Swell was fourth and Moa Bird and Merry Mint followed. Hunting Day won convincingly. Despite his good start. Head Seiang was unlucky and Moa Bird and Tho Swell will soon do better. In the Maiden Scurry, Manifesto. Right Bower and Don Quixoto were the only ones backed. Manifesto and Right Bower received all the best of a straggling start, and they led to the turn from Crown Emblem, Don Quixote, Crown Jest and Royal Court. Right Bower was beaten a furlong from home, and Don Quixote came through to run Manifesto to a length. Right Bower was two lengths away third, with Royal Court fourth, and Minter, Wedding Bells and Crown Jest in that order. It was easy for Manifesto, although Don Quixoto finished very well. In the Flying Handicap, Ridgemonnt, j Royal Parade and Kaihoro were solidly supported, but thero was a turn up .in Royal Duke at a longisli price. Kaihoro showed out first from a good start, but was soon joined by Aston and then Ridgemount and Royal Parade joined them, the four racing round the top and to the turn from Royal Duke and Cuticle. Royal Duke ran past tho leaders a furlong from home, coming on to win easily by two lengths from Aston, who stalled of! tho fast-finish-ing Cuticle by a head. Ridgemount was fourth and then after a gap camo Kaihoro and Royal Parade. Royal Duke won easily and Cuticle finished very fast. Aston ran a really good-race. Royal ...Parade was badly ridden. In the Redcliffe Hack Handicap, Goldlike. Merry Melody "and High Society were the favourites in a good betting raco to wind up proceedings. High Society was smartest out. and led down the back from Crown Link, Rich Harvest, Merry Melody and Whaktine. High Society had a four lengths' lead on the lialC-mile from Crown Link and Rich Harvest, with Merry Melody handy and the rest strung out. Rich Harvest and Merry Melody gradually closed on High Society in tho run home, and a great finish saw the judge unable to separate Rich Harvest and High Society, with Merry Melody a head away third. Crown Link was fourth, and Goldliko and Whakane next. High Society had overy chance, but put up no fight when tackled. Rich Harvest and Merry Melody stayed on well, giving High Society' five or six lengths' start over the last half-mile, Goldlike and Fino Acre will do better. ACCEPTANCES FOR TO-DAY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NAPIER, Friday. Tho weather appears to bo rather better for tho conclusion of the Napier meeting to-morrow, and the fields havo kept up well. With his experience of to-day King's Jest, is likely to see a short price in tho hurdlo race, but lie may be troubled by Red Bank at the shorter distance. Cloyuo was not too lively to-day, but m ny uiako amends in tho Telegraph Hack. Manifesto may be the hardest to beat. In spito of her failuro to-day, Jenny Diver has to be given ft chance in the Kuao Handicap, with Star of Gold likely to improve.. Blimp should bo a good favourite in tho Prince of Wales Handicap, but Shrewd, who was unlucky to-day. may trouble him. for the field is not a strong ono apart from Star Stranger, who will not bo regarded seriously. Thero is a smart field in the President's Cup. Pahu is a likely newcomer with a good record, and Coldlike and Royal Opera may do best of the icst. Tho Cup running points to Rory Mor in tho High-weight, while Fino Acre iB liable to prove tho first day form wrong. Don Quixoto will be a hot order for the Trial Handicap. Ho will bo ridden by Gray. a , , , Kaihoro may improve on tho first day s form, as at Dannevirke, in the sprint event. Aston may keep her busy.
