FOLLY OF CARELESSNESS.
DEATH OF MOTOR-CYCLIST. CAUSE OF MANY ACCIDENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Friday. ' The increasing number of fatal road accidents was referrod to by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day, at the inquest concerning the death of Thomas Alexander Hardio, who was killed while riding a motor-cycle at Sockburn on December 21. "This man," said Mr. Mosley; "was only 21 years of age, and his death is a loss to the country. This is one of a practically continuous line of accidouts of this nature. They art; caused by careless, ness on tho part of one person or the other. In this unfortunate case, tho accident was a result of deceased's own action." It was shown that Hardie had two coinpanions on his machine and was travelling at 35 miles an hour when ho ran into a car.
