FIRST FOR FIFTY YEARS.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.

(Received February 16, 5.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE. Feb. 56

The first shark tragedy recorded for 50 years at Brighton Beach occurred yester day.

Noman Clark, aged 18, was attacked while he was bathing near the N pier and dragged into the bay. His body has not yet been recovered. A girl companion of the youtK witnessed the shocking affair. A crowd of people-saw the shark seize Clark and drag him under the water time and time again. The cries of the victim became fainter until finally they ceased altogether and he disappeared.
