NORTH SHORE CLUB,

TRIAL FOURS DECIDED.

WIN FOR NORRIS* CREW

Members of the North Shore Rowing Club decided trial fourß on Saturday afternoon for trophies donated by Mr. B. Butland, club captain. Four crews competed and two heats and a final wore rowed. Owing to the strong north-east wind tho course from the North Head to a point about 100 yds. past the Devonport Yacht Club's shed was rowed. The starting was by mutual consent and Mr. S. McDuft acted as judge. The crews in the first heat were:—F. Norris,, D, Townsend, 11. Oliver, S. Jinks; M. McCallum, C. Oliver, A. Vowles, A. Grey. Norris' crew was quicker off the mark and halfway over the course held a lead of two lengths. At this stage McCallum's crew challenged, and by the time the yacht clubhonso was passed bad reduced the lead by one length, A stirring finish resulted, and Norris' crew held on to win by fialf a length,

The crews in the second heat were:—C. Carlylm, S. Gurdiner, McDougall, C. AVilletts; W. Seagar, F. Eaion, D. Walsh, C. Eagles,. Taking the lead at the start Seagar held command until just past the boathemse. Carlyle then spurted and closed up, but Seagar's crew, when called upon, diew out and .won comfortably by one length.

The crews in the final wore stroked by F. Norris and W. Seagar. .Going away to a splendid Btart there was little between the crews to the quarter distance. Norris then forged ahead, but off the boatliouse was displaced by Seagar. In the last 100 yds. Norris challenged strongly. Seagar's crew responded, and in an exciting race Norris forged ahead in the last few strokes and won by a canvas length.

RACES POSTPONED.

Owing to the rough water conditions on the ci\,y side of the harbour the Auckland and Waitemata Clubs were compelled to postpone their trial racing programmes.
