Mrs. C. IT. Abbott, of Remuera, who lias been visiting Wanganui, returned 011 [Wednesday.

Mrs. C. H. Dallev, of Sea view Road, Remuera, left by the Ulimaroa yesterday for Sydney.

Miss' G. Lindsay, of Wellington, is ■visiting Auckland and is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Sirs. N. Richardson, of Lake Road, fl'akapuna, returned this week from a jvisit to Wellington and Palmcrston North.

The members of the Takapuna Dramatic Club held their second performance at the residence of Mrs. Turtill, Takapuna, on Thursday evening. The three sections under Mr. C. H. Kingsford, Miss OF. Crosher and Sir. Shaw presented three one-act plays, "The Man in the Bowler Hat,"' "Calais to Dover" and "The Boy Comes Home." A paper on the life and -works of A. A. Milne was read by Mr. Kingsford. The final evening for the year is'to be held early next month.

A social evening was given yesterday in. the Parish Hall by the Bible class of St. Peter's Anglican Church at Takapuna. ; Miss Litt was responsible for the arrangements, assisted by members of the vestry. A one-act play by A. A. •Milne —"The Boy Comes Home"—was arranged by Sir. Hudson Shaw, the parts being- taken by Mrs. T. Mowbray, Miss Margot Trafford, Miss Jean Collinson, Sir. A. Turtill and Mr. H. Shaw. Games were played, and those recently confirmed were welcomed at the gathcrin fi-'' V •

On Thursday evening Mrs. C. Blair, "" of Seddon Street, Pukekohe, gave - i kitchen evening to Nurse Mary Sinclair, whose marriage to Mr. P. Hitchen, of Pokeno, ' took place recently. The evening was held in the Methodist Hall, and a large number of friends were present. Songs and musical items were given by Mts. Al Waddell, Miss E. Chellburg. Miss Allan, Messrs. Fallows (2) and Young. Competitions also helped to pass the evening in a pleasant manner. Mr. E." Allan, of Buckland. and Dr. J. I , McWhirter, of Pukekohe, each spoke in Complimentary terms of the bride elect.

Miss Peggy Holmes presented her pupils Sit Papatoetoe in an excellent dance recital at the Public Hall, on Thursday evening. There an enthusiastic audience, and ■Miss Holmes and her • pupils received many bouquets at the end of an entertaining evening. Some attractive ballets ;wore the "Fairy," "Clown," "Ragtime" and "Soldier" ballets. The solo dancers gave very good performances. Among them were: Vivienne Henderson, Jean Clayton, Mar v Lucena, Mary Nicholson, Marjorie Slcßeth, Joan Gannaway, 'Myrtle Kemp, Maud Smith, Betty Peterson, Avis Hill. Recitations were 'given by Betty Peterson, j Avis Hill, Nancy Young, Jean Clayton and Vivienne Henderson, Mrs. Parker Hill was accompaniste.
