FESTIVAL AT ST. MARK'S.
APPEAL TO SUPPORTERS
The annual mission" festival of the Auckland diocese was held in St. Mark's Church, Remuera, last evening. The preacher was Archdeacon MacMurrav, who was supported by Archbishop Averill and a large number of the clergy of the diocese. There was a good attendance. Tho lessons were read by Canons Fancourt and Young, and special prayers for church missions were offered by Archdeacon MacMurrav. After tracing tho origin of missionary work, Archdeacon MucMurrny made a vigorous appeal to the supporters of the Church to help it carry out the work which still lay before it. He expressed his disappointment at finding that in the city of Nazareth, at tlie present day, the only religious building was a Mahommedan mosque. He concluded 011 an optimistic note, Mid said he felt sure the Church would riso to moot tho increased burden which circumstances were conspiring to throw upon it. Tho service terminated with the blessing, which was pronounced by the archbishop.
