HELPING CHURCH FUNDS.

SALES OF WORK HELD. NEW ZEALAND BUSH FAIR. Transformed into a bush scene, with a. Maori whare in the centre, and surrounded by native trees, St. Matthew's Hall made a most attractive scene yesterday when a New Zealand bush fair was commenced in aid of the church funds. A large number of well-provisioned stalls were to be seen in the hall, each representing a New Zealand tree or shrub in its decorative scheme, while on the afternoon tea tables bowls of native busn flowers were arranged. Mrs. W. H. Parkes, who was introduced by Canon (J. H. Grant Co'.ven, declared the fair open. In the evening exhibitions of fancy dancing were given by pupils of Miss Beresford, while this evening Miss Cecil Hall's pupils will be seen in dance items. The annual sale of work of St. Michael's Church at Belmont was held yesterday. The Rev. Piggott, who was accompanied by Mrs. Piggott, introduced Mrs. J. W. Williamson, who declared the sale open. The stalls had been decorated with streamers and flowers and the varied assortment of articles displayed was quickly sold. The sale, of work will be continued to-day and this evening an entertainment will bo given in fancy dancing with Mrs. Wyatt as the instructress. . A bazaar and sale of work in aid of the funds, of St. Michael's Anglican Church was held in the Henderson Town Hall on Thursday afternoon and evening. The opening ceremony was performed by Mrs. Mitchell, president of the Auckland Mothers' League. There were numerous heavily laden stalls and good business was done. This event, which is an annual one, was arranged by the Ladies' Guild for the purpose of raising funds to carry on the ordinary work' of the church.
