DICKENS FELLOWSHIP.

FAITH OF THE NOVELIST. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Dickens Fellowship on Thursday evening, when a paper on " The Faith of Dickens, prepared by the president, Rev. A. B. Chappell, was read by Mr W. S. Fwhet. The paper, which traced the novelist s interest in religious matters, showed him to have been a man of sincere and deep piety. Other readings were given as follow?:—" Stiggins," Mr T.; Clarkson; " A Child's Dream of a Star, Mis. Culpan; "Will Fern's Address, Mr. O. of fine coloured illustrations of Dickens characters, a gift to the fellowship. was forwarded by Miss Mowbray, president of the Auckland branch of the Victoria League. The final meeting of the season will bo held on November 14 when " The Cricket on the Hearth will be the subject.of discussion. Ihe programme will be m the hands of Mrs. Kenneth Gordon.
