OUTLAY OF £1,213,917.
INCREASE ON PREVIOUS YEAR.
Building permits issued by the Auckland City Council for tho first nine months of this year related to structures and extensions valued at £1,213,917 as coni\>arod with £1,037,306 for tho corresponding three-quarters of 1928. Tho total valuo of permits during September was £131,072, substantially more than tho previous month and an increase of £24,M0 on tho value in September, 1928. Dwellings accounted for 40 permits, a docrease of eight on the aggregate in the corresponding month last year. Mutual Assuranco building in Wellesloy Street, recently taken over from Archibald Clark and Sons. Theso works were valued at £31,000, while a permit issued for the construction of tho Masonic Temple in St. Benedict's Street accounted for £22,100, and a block of 14 flats in Newton Road, for £6998. Additions to tho old Nelson Street school for tho Community Sunshine .Association wore estimated at £1997.
