SCHOOL PATRIOTIC ESSAY.. CUP WON BY BELMONT. Tho annual Flag Cup school essay compptition has been won this year by Glynn Roberts, a pupil of tho Belmont school. The cup is open for competition among Standard VI. pupils throughout the schools of tho Auckland Education Board's district, and the winner receives a gold medal presented by tho board. Last year the trophy went to the Cornwall Park school. It wais originally presented in 1922 by Mr. R. G. Cox, an ex-territorial officer, for tho purpose of fostering an interest among children in subjects of a patriotic nature. Tho subject selected for this year's essay was "The Flag in New Zealand."
