CHILDREN AND SPORT.
Romo children t.-iko to sport moro quickly Hmn others. Never force the pace. If sport is a penance, there is something wrong somewhere, for, above all, it should give pleasure. Never laugh " at " a child s failures. Laugh " with " him, if you like, for this is a very different thing. And teach the great importance of sport in helping to preserve good health, and that it is everyone's dntv to try to keep fit. In spite of its detractors, sport is vitally necessary as a part of the education of every human being. Sport is, to a child, almost more important, educationally, than book learn ing, for no amount of the latter could develop the higher moral qualities in the same way—those qualities of self-control, unselfishness, honour, loyalty and courage which are typical of tho British character at its best. We need sport to rule out cowardice—the worst sin of all!
