Tl.o first woman road scout under llio Women's .Automobile and Sports Association to tako up motor-cycle patrol duly in (ho Surrey roads is Elsio Hornton. A few days ago slio was a mannequin in a West End store. Miss ilornton says it is a great contrast patrolling llie roads, but sho docs not intend lo cease being feminine because she. lias a man's job.

The colour scheme of the new scout's uniform is red and blue, Sho wears a high-necked tunic and peaked cap, placed on the head at a jaunty angle, black gaiters and white gauntlets. Her equipment includes a first-aid outfit.

A cablegram from London on September 9 stated: Girl motor-cycle patrols, clad in red and blue uniforms, " pill-box" lints, breeches and leggings, will shortly appear on the English roads. They will bo employed by tho Women's Automobile and Sports Association, which claims lo bo the only club of its kind in tho Empire. It has Professor Low as technical adviser.

Mrs. Victor Bruce, the chief organiser, says the association is seeking slim, smart,, intelligent girls as forerunners of an army of road patrols. The association hopes to have movable caravans on tho roads, equipped with tea baskets and toilet requisites.
