STRUCK BY WINCH HANDLE.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.

[BY TELEGKAri?.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANGAIIEI, Wednesday.

While working on the rock-chopping plant in tho Whangarei River channel this morning, Mr. F. T. Mounce met with a painful accident. Ho was letting a load off a winch when the handle suddenly slipped out of his hand. With tho strain in the winch tho handle revolved with great force and struck him on tho head and shoulder. He was immediately brought by launch to Whangarei and taken to the hospital. His injuries included a severe fracture of tho collarbone and a piece torn from his car.
