TRIP TO NEW GUINEA.

In the Australian Senate recently Senator Dunn, New South Wales, asked a question which elicited that the recent cruiso of tho Governor-General to New Guinea cost the Commonwealth Government approximately £14.000. In answer to another question ho was told that the trip mado by Lord Forster to the mandated territories when he was GovernorGeneral cost £376.
In an interview Senator Dunn expressed tho opinion that the expense of Lord Stonehaven's tlip required some? explanation, in view of tho fact that it was mado in a time of such financial stringency., Lord Forster had nude liia trip during a period of plenty; and yet ha used an ordinary passenger steamer. Tho mouey expended on Lord Stonehaven's trip could have easily been made available for the felief of distress among tho returned soldiers of Australia.
