SECOND UNIT NEARLY READY

CURRENT EXPECTED IN WEEK

[ijr telegham.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Tuesday.

The district electrical engineer, Mr. T. MacLennan, stated to-day that the work of drying-out the second unit at Arapuni had been completed, and that only a few adjustments 'were now necessary. It was expected that the unit would be generating power for general consumption within a week. >.

Mr. MacLennan said that he expected the diversion tunnel at Arapuni to be closed again this week in connection with the tests that were being carried out to combat the effect of the erosion below the spillway.
