BRIDGE EVENING.

To raise funds for the benefit of St. James Kindergarten a particularly enjoyable bridgo evening was held yesterday at Penmoria, the residenco of Mrs. A. W. Perkins, at Romuera. The organisers were Lady Robertson and Mrs. Perkins. Bridgo was played both upstairs and down and brightly burning fires added a warmth that was very much appreciated by the players. Beautiful spring flowers were arranged in tho different rooms, among them vivid anemones, trumpet daffodils, purplo irises and arum lilies. The deep orange of Iceland poppies was particularly effective in the billiard room and tho entraneo hall was also arranged with large bowls of flowers and foliage. Lady Robertson wore a frock of white and black georgetto with diamante embroideries and Mrs. Perkins wore a frock of black georgetto over salmon pink satin, flic tucked skirt and bodice being ornamented with appliqucd Howrys in pastel tones. A pink rose was caught to one shoulder. Mrs. J, F. Wright was in a frock of appio grccri georgetto with frilled panels and spray of pastel roses
