The sixtieth annual report and balancesheet of tho Auckland -Rowing Club, to be presented at tho annual meeting to be hold on. Monday next, states that the season just xlosed has been a very important one, not only for the reason that it marked the completion of GO years of activity, but abo on account of the considerable successes which attended the cluh'ii competitive efforts. Active membership showed an increase of five over tho previous season. As tho club has a young, enthusiastic membership, and still enjoys tho support of the-old members, its future seems assured. Dona-
tions accompanying theso successes amounted to i's2, which eum topped tho list of the city clubs. A happy circumstunce of tho jubilee year was the regaining of the Dewar Shield, which was first won by the club at the initial contest in 1901. To mark tho occasion of tho jitbilco season, and to com- _ memorate tho return of the trophy to tho club after a lapso of 25 years, Mr. EliotR. Davie, on behalf of tho Rt. Hon. Lord Dewar, very kindly donated a set of gold medals to tho successful crew. In of the fact that the overdraft 2 ■ showed a slight increase for the season tho club's financial position can atilJ- bo re carded as very satisfactory. Tho purchase of the practico fours and new oars formed thu bulk of tho expenditure, but tho executivo considered the outlay to bo warranted.
