AUCKLAND CLUB'S YEAR.

DEWAR SHIELD REGAINED

The sixtieth annual report and balancesheet of tho Auckland -Rowing Club, to be presented at tho annual meeting to be hold on. Monday next, states that the season just xlosed has been a very important one, not only for the reason that it marked the completion of GO years of activity, but abo on account of the considerable successes which attended the cluh'ii competitive efforts. Active membership showed an increase of five over tho previous season. As tho club has a young, enthusiastic membership, and still enjoys tho support of the-old members, its future seems assured. The high standard of trial racing witnessed throughout the season was in no email measure responsible for the club's successes at tho inter-club and regatta events Regatta wins for the season totalled six firsts,. six seconds and three Auckland Rowing Association championships. tions accompanying theso successes amounted to i's2, which eum topped tho list of the city clubs. A happy circumstunce of tho jubilee year was the regaining of the Dewar Shield, which was first won by the club at the initial contest in 1901. To mark tho occasion of tho jitbilco season, and to com- _ memorate tho return of the trophy to tho club after a lapso of 25 years, Mr. EliotR. Davie, on behalf of tho Rt. Hon. Lord Dewar, very kindly donated a set of gold medals to tho successful crew. In of the fact that the overdraft 2 ■ showed a slight increase for the season tho club's financial position can atilJ- bo re carded as very satisfactory. Tho purchase of the practico fours and new oars formed thu bulk of tho expenditure, but tho executivo considered the outlay to bo warranted.

WEST END CLUB'S WINS.

RETURN TO WINNING LIST.

Tho forty-fifth annual report and balanceSheet of tho Wetjt End Rowing Club, to bo presented at the'annual meeting to-morrow ■week, states that the present membership is 40 active, eight honorary, and nine life members and 15 Training College students. The membership list had been thoroughly revised during the season, and only active members v/ero to bo included in same. The season had been a very successful one, tho club securing four firsts and four seconds, nnd annexing prize-money to tho extent of 4s, together with the Bell Challenge Picture. These successes were the first secured by the club in two season*. The Barrett Cup had been competed for again in open country and annexed by tho club Threo seta of _ Oregon practice oars and two sets of racing sculls had been added to the plant during the season. The season had been completed with a credit balance of £43 lGs 6d. Tho committee had provided for depreciation on the building, furniture, fixtures and fittings in tho usual manner.
