BOXING.
CARNIVAL AT WHANGAREI. EVENT HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL. [BY telegraph.—own correspondent. ] WHANGAREI, Monday. The boxing carnival arranged by a combined committee of tho Defence Boxing Club and the Whangarei Municipal Silver Band, was an undoubted financial success. A statement submitted at a meeting of tho committee at the week-end disclosed that the total revenue was £IOO -13 Od, and the exjienses A'3s 10s 9d. leaving a net profit of £64 14s. The profit is to bo divided between the Boxing Club itnd tho Municipal Baud, in equal portions At a general meeting of the Defence Boxing Club held subsequently the following officers were elected Patron, Mr. A. J. Murdoch. M P.; president, Major A. I). jack; vice-presidents. Colonel H. Hemphill, Colonel C. J. Lockio. Major S. H. Ward. Major H. C. Carruther, Captain Foster and Messrs. K. G. M. Kelly, W. Beehre, D. A. McLean, L. W. Nelson and R. G. Hoaking; hon, secretary, Corporal Barnes; cnairmtvn of committee, Mr. D. Amos; treasurer. Mr. W. L. Hopewell; instructor. Mr. E. B. Trowern; committee, Messrs J. Beehre, S. Bignell, D. P. Jones, F. Eccles. H. Flewellyn and A. Howie.
