TROUBLE IN APIA.
STRIKERS ATTACK POLICE
SHOTS FIRED ON CROWD
Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received August 13, 5.5 p.m.) APIA. Aug. 12. There was a conflict yesterday between 250 coolies who are on strike and the police, who fired two shots in the air and then several revolver shots in selfdefence. There were 14 casualties among the coolies, four of whom were wounded by bullets,' one seriously, and the remainder injured by batons. Somo of the Samoan and European police were slightly injured by stones.
