A remarkable discovery has been made near Hyderabad, Sind, 90 miles northeast, of Karachi, where a big tinderground hull, with a roof supported by three great stone pillars, and three antechambers shrouded iu dust, wcro found under the ruins of the palace of the former Ranas of Parjcar. Heavy floods which had caused tho river to overflow into an adjoining lako exposed the entrance. The cave was immediately sealed and guarded by Government orders,

It is recalled that in 1859 tho British dethroned tho Ranas and burned tho palace, after a mutiny, and tho local inhabitants for many years believed that the site contained an underground cave filled with trcasuro, which was guarded by snakes placed tlicro by the lianas, who before they were deposed ruled a large portion of Sind.

Rana is a Hindu word meaning ruler or prince. Sind is now a division of the Bombay Presidency, the most northerly portion. Parkar is one of tho six districts of Sind. Sind has a history of its own, distinct from tho rest of India. It was originally ruled by a Buddhist dynasty, but suffered many invasions. It was annexed by Britain after tho doc.isivo battlo of Mceanee, under Sir Charles Napier.

At Mohenjo Daro in Sind very old remains have been unearthed by officers of the Archaeological Department, dating back to 3000 B.C.
