OBITUARY.
MR, LESLIE ARTHUR WATKINS.
The death has occurred at Thames of Mr. Leslie Arthur Watkins, aged 32 years. Mr. Watkins bad been on the staff of the Thames High School for tho last five years and will bo greatly missed at the school, where he was a capablo, conscientious teacher. Mr. Watkins was born in Ponsonby, Auckland, and was tho son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Watkins, of Green Lane, Auckland. Ho received his early education at tho Richmond Road school under Mr. T. U. Wells. Afterwards ho attended tho Auckland Grammar School. Ho became a pupil teacher in the Richmond Road school and later became a student of the Auckland Training Collego and the Auckland University, where lie gained the degree of B. A. at the early age of nineteen. Ho enlisted during tho latter stages of the war and contracted a chill in Egypt, which laid the foundation of the trouble which resulted in his death. At tho end of tho war ho resumed teaching, being for somo timo head of tho secondary department of the Matamata High School. Mr. Watkins married Miss Marjorio Whitakcr, of Hamilton, and is survived by his wife and a son, aged six. A member of tho Methodist Church, he was tho leader of the Young Men's Biblo class.
MRS. R. C. ALLEN
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday.
General regret *was felt in Morrinsville when news was received yesterday of tho death in tho Islo of Wight on Sunday of Mrs. R. C. Allen, wife of Colonel R. C. Allen, D.5.0., of Morrinsville. Colonel Allen and Mrs. Allen left in June, 1928, for England for tho purpose of educating their four children. Mrs. Alien was born in Romuern, Auckland, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Thompson. Sho received her early education in Auckland, finishing in England. Sho was married in 1911 and camo to live at Piako, Morrinsville. Mrs. Allen was well known throughout tho (district. Sho took a keen interest in tho Anglican Church, was prosidont of tho Girl Guides' Committco and was ono of tho founders of tho Plunkct Society in Morrinsville. During tho early part of tho war sho was a keen patriotic workor. When her husband was wounded sho went to England and undertook V.A.I). work in the Walton-on-Thames Hospital. Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband and four children, two hoys and two girls.
