FLOODS IN CHINA.
YELLOW RIVER OVERFLOWS.
VAST DAMAGE CAUSED. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. SHANGHAI, Aug. 9. ' Damage done by floods near Peking, which caused the Yellow River to overflow, is assuming the proportions of a catastrophe. As a consequence, of further rains many villages in the provinces of liopei and Shantung have been inundated, and 500,000 villagers are desolated. The river embankments have collapsed and the Peking-Suiyan railway has been washed out.
