CLOSE MATCH AT SYDNEY. VICTORIAN GOLFERS BEATEN. (Received August 11. 5.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. Auk. 11. In the Kirk-Windever Cup match yesterday the New Sout h Wales golf team defeated Victoria l»y two matches to one. The other three matches ended all square. In the foursomes Appeilev and Fawceit (New South Wales) defeated Russell and Btilte (Victoria), 3 up and 2. Hancock and Ryan (Victoria) and 11. I). Morrison and Morrison were all square.
In the singles Russell and Fnwectt were all square. H. I). Morrison defeated Ryan, 2 up. Hancock and Appeilev were all square. Bulte defeated Morrison, 4 up and 2. In (he final against New Zealand (ho New South Wales team will be:—Apperiey, Fawcett, Harrison, H. Morrison. The. foursomes will be played on Monday, and the singles on Tuesday. Mr. W. Windeyer, one of the donors of the trophy, was present at the roptu'li yesterday.
