A conference was held this morning between the chairman and staff of the Whangarei County Council and the deputymayor and town clerk of Whangarei on the question of the unemployed in Whangarei district. In consequence the following telegram was sent to the Minister of Public Works: " In order to absorb the unemployed in the Whangarei district we strongly urge that financial provision be made immediately to place 20 men on the MangapaiTokatoka Road, 10 on the Maungata-pere-Kaigoose, 25~ on the Marua-Mata-pouri Road and also 40 on the construction of the Omana-Tauraroa Road.
