OBITUARY.

MR. F. HOLMES. SYDNEY. Aug 2. Tho death has occurred of Mr. F. Holmes, a millionaire stock owner. Deceased owned tho racehorse Sion, which ran second in the Epsom and Doncnster Handicaps. A cablegram from Sydney on July 3 stated: " A spectacular, but grim race with death is being run by an aeroplane from Darwin to Sydney. The machine, carrying Mr. F. Holmes, squatter and prominent sportsman, and a trained nurse, left Darwin yesterday morning. Mr Holmes is suffering from hemorrhage, and as his condition became worse it was decided to send him to Sydney on tho Inland Mission's ambulance aeroplane." The late Mr. Holmes raced under the assumed nam® of " I. Felix."
