A GUIDE TO HOUSEWIVES.. An increase of one penny per lb. in most of the lines of pork is the outstanding feature in the foodstuffs price list this week. Pork sausages remain unchanged. Owing to tho recent trawling dispute supplies of fish are scarce, but the stocks are expected to be normal next week. In the fruit section New grape fruit are selling at eight for Is. Both hen and duck eggs nave decreased a penny a dozen. Following are the prices:— iIEAT. I A heavy yarding of dairy cattle" was offered at tho stock sale to-day by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, at their Puktkoho yards. The demand was good, bidding being sustained throughout. Beßt dairy cowa and heifers realised i'l3 to £ls 15s; medium quality. £lO 10s to £l2 15s; poorer ai\d backward. £6 to £9 10s; yearling heifers, £2 15s to £5 Heavy fat cow-s brought £9 to £11; lighter cows. £7 to £8 15s; boners, £3 10s to £5 Ins; store cows, £3 5s to £5 ss; yearling steers, small, £3. There was an exceptionally large yarding of store and weaner pigs which sold under keen competition at Dalgety and Company's, Limited, stock sale at Hatamata on Wednesday The yarding of fat and store cattle was good and there was a fair yard- j ing of dairy cattle.
