TO-MORROW'S MEETING.

MANY NOTICES OF MOTION

STATUS IN COURT ACTION

Several subjects that have in them material for considerable discussion arc to come before tlio Auckland City Council to-morrow evening.

Of chief importance is a report from the city solicitor, Mr. J. Stanton, concerning tho position of tho council with regard to (ho notices of legal proceedings which havo been initiated .against the city representatives on the Transport Board. The council's right to reappoint the same members who were recalled is being challenged in the Supremo Court, and at. the last meeting, Messrs. J. A. C. A Mum and M. J. Coyle, two of the members affected, advised (he council that they had received notices of the impending proceedings and asked (ho council's intentions in (lie matter. On tho motion of tho Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, it was decided to obtain a report from the city solicitor. Tho ban placed by tho city librarian, Mr. J. Barr, on tho book, "All Quiet on tho Western Front," forms tho subject of a notice of motion by Mr. F. N. Bartram, proposing that tho council should give directions for tho book to bo placed iu the central library and all branches. Cheap annual tram and bus tickets for tho members of the council are desired by Mr. J. It. Lundon, who has given notice to movo that the council should accept the Transport Board's offer of annual tickets at a cost to each recipient not exceeding £6 6s yearly, the issue to bo annual, half-yearly or quarterly, as each member desires. Mr. Lundon also intends to ask the council to suggest to the board that it should issue annual, half-yearly and quarterly tickets to tho public.

That schooi concession tram and bus cards should be sold at the usual soiling agencies is a principle which Mr. G. .\Brownlce will ask the council to affirm, with a direction to the city representafives to have the matter reviewed b.v the Transport Board. Another notice filed by Mr. Lundon is one suggesting that the order paper for council business should be posted to members two days before the meeting, any business which may come in subsequently to be included in a supplementary order paper.

M i.ss A. 11. G. Bastcn has given notice to move that a member of the Parks Committee should be added to the Town Planning Committee.
