MR. C. J. BELCHER RETIRES

Practically every local body in Taranaki was represented a complimentary dinner tendered to Mr. C. J. Belcher at Ellham last evening by tho Taraiiaki Local Bodies' Association, to mark Mr. Belcher's retirement from public life. Mr. Belcher has a iong record of service as president of the association since its inception and as a member of many other local bodies. The guest wan presented with an illuminated address, on which was appended the signatures of every local body chairman in Taranaki. He also received a framed photograph from the Eltham County Council, of which he was a member for 20 years, for 13 years chairman.
