[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] PAEROA, Monday. An old house owned by Mr. J. Montague, of Thames, and leased by Mrs. M. H. Pitkethley, and situated about one and a-half miles from Paeroa, was destroyed by Sre early yesterday morning. The house had been occupied until Saturday morning and the furniture, owned by the lessee, had not been removed. The furniture was not insured. The origin of the fire is not known. OUTBREAKS IN THE NORTH. A FARMER'S HEAVY LOSS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] DARGAVILI/B, Monday. A fire last night at Aranga, 22 yiiles from Dargaville, totally destroyed the farm house and its contents owned by Mr. Carl Carlson, a farmer. Mr. Carlson lost everything, the high wind which was blowing at the time preventing anything from being saved. The insurance on the dwelling was £3OO and on the contents £l5O, both in the Ocean Office. A thrce-romed house at Pekapekarau, owned by Mr. J. C. O'Connor, was destroyed by fire on Saturday night. HOUSE IN DUNEDIN PARK. CITY OFFICIAL'S DWELLING. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] DUNEDIN, Monday. Firo yesterday destroyed a house in Logan Park owned by the Dunedin City Corporation and occupied by Mr. A. Walker, caretaker of the Art Gallery. The contents of the building were insured for £450 in the State Office. DWELLINGS IN WESTLAND. TWO BURNED TO GROUND. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HOKITIKA. Monday. A modern residence owned by Mr. E. Stoop, of Woodstock, was completely, destroyed by firo early yesterday morning. The insurance on the building amounted to £250, and on the furniture to £250, all in the Guardian Office. Fire at Ross on Saturday morning destroyed a five-roomed cottage owned by Mr. A. Moore. It was insured for £IOO iu the South British Office.
