ELECTRIC CABLE SUPPLY.
ENGLISH FIRM'S SUCCESS.
CONTRACT PRICE OF £28,374
A contract for the supply of 22,000-volt cable was let to an English firm, Johnson and Phillips, Limited, by the Auckland Power Board yesterday. Tho price was £28,374. The cable is required for the distribution of the hydro electric power from Arapuni, and will be laid underground from Penrose to Kingsland, from Kingsland to Point Chevalier and Avondale, and from Epsom to Remuera and the Orakei block. The work is provided for in the board's recently-authorised £675,000 loan, of which it will absorb £138,000.
